iWhat is All-West?
It is short for All Southwest TN Jr. High Honor Chorus. Grades 7-9 only. It is sponsored by the West TN Vocal Music Education Association (WTVMEA).
How do I get in?
Auditions will be held at Colonial Middle School(?) in late October. Auditions times will be scheduled and given to each student in mid Oct.
I will hold rehearsals before school to prepare for the audition. We will rehearse as a group and gradually give students a chance to practice singing their part by themselves.
All West rehearsals will begin in mid, August at 7:30 am.
We will rehearse every Mon/Wed/Fri from 7:30-8:30 am. Additional rehearsal will be added as requested.
Can I choose my own song for the audition?
Sorry, no. The audition music is the same as the music to be performed at the concert. You will get a folder of choral music when you come to rehearsals.
What happens if I don't pass the audition?
Your journey is over. I am proud of you for trying. I hope you enjoyed the process and had great experiences.
What happens if I pass the audition?
We keep rehearsing until the clinic/concert in mid-November.
Official results will be posted on the WTVMEA.org website. I will email/text and post unofficial (but correct) results on this site.
Those who pass the audition will attend a clinic/concert from November 14-16 at the (TBA). Girls will need a black full-length dress.
AMS All West students traditionally perform a special song at the Christmas concert.
AMS chorus student who make All West are exempt from the audition for the AMS Honor Chorus.
How do they choose who gets in?
At the end of the audition day, the top 25 scores from each room (Sop 1, Sop 2, Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Bass 1, Bass 2) make All West. There are no substitutes or alternates. If you know you cannot attend the clinic/concert, please don't audition. You might take someone's spot that would love to be there.
